Stumbling Into Destiny?
Have you found your purpose? That discovery is very fulfilling. For me, purpose is like a beacon in the distance. My purpose includes ministering God's word and testifying to what the Lord is doing.
It’s a privilege to be asked to minister in a place the first time. It’s a great honor to be invited back. The exciting news? Rwanda is calling! The challenge? Only four weeks to get ready!
I’m sending you this letter to solicit your prayers and to raise travel expenses. Knowing the Lord wants me to go, my ticket is already ordered. Will you help me pay for it?
I was seeking the Lord yesterday, praying about this opportunity. “Should I go?” I suddenly recalled Dr. John Stanko saying, “Find your purpose and it will carry you into your destiny.” God was speaking to me about this opportunity. The Lord has prepared me for this day.
I know my life’s purpose. It’s described in Psalms 71. “O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.” (vs. 17-18 ESV) Starting in my youth at age 18, I travelled to the Caribbean to preach the gospel to the poor. I just turned 75, so I qualify as old and gray. My purpose is still to testify of God’s power to the next generation. The Lord reminded me of a prayer I repeatedly prayed as a young preacher, “Father, send me to the poor!”
Decades later, the motto of our 501c3 (Touched by Grace) is, Taking the Riches of Christ to the Poor of the Earth. This is our vision. It’s what we’re doing in Rwanda. In my maturity, I’ve realized how God uses apostolic teams, therefore I don’t minister alone.
When I ask for your prayers and request financial support, I am not asking for myself. Rather, I’m asking for the poor of Rwanda - that they may hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, be saved, and partake of the riches of His grace. I’m going there in His name. Will your heart go with me?
I have reports and photos of what our team has done. Our gospel work is biblical, humanitarian, and kingdom oriented. If you have questions, please email or call so we can talk.
Please print this letter as a reminder. Please begin praying daily as a prayer partner. Then, if you’re willing, click on the link to contribute electronically. Become a missionary partner with Touched by Grace. Please do it today, while you are thinking of it.
Your donations are tax deductible. Whatever you give is appreciated. Last year for our trip folks gave $10, $100, even $1,000. Lana and I sacrificed. And the need was met. The total amount I must raise immediately for this ministry trip is now $2,800 (some already came in.) That amount covers air travel, lodging, meals, and the books I'm bringing to equip Rwanda’s Christian leaders. I can’t do this without you!
We are making history for God. You become part of this great gospel work as you join your faith with ours. Jesus has opened the door and said, "Go!" The Lord watches us respond. He keeps good books. The Bible says when you give to the poor, you are lending to the Lord. He will repay you - with divine interest!
On behalf of our team - me and Lana, Tony, Joey, Paige, our African co-workers - the precious people of Rwanda impacted by God's word, and from the Lord Jesus Christ whose grace enables us, I say… Thank You!
